Is taboo language really a sign of lacking intelligence? Probably not. However, some individuals believe that that this obscene language (otherwise known as swearing) is often seen as a sign that the speaker and or writer, lacks vocabulary and therefore lacks intelligence. Although, taboo language such as "Fuck" can be used within the English language in multiples contexts. For example, swearing can be used to convey emotions, to express a joke, to emphasis a point or even to even display your hatred towards someone.
In favour of taboo language, some may have the view that the use of swearing, in modern speech, may actually provide you with a more rich and expressive use sounding vocabulary. The use of swearing may also positively intensify your expressions in context to a expressing your happiness.
On the other hand, some individuals who prefer to maintain a formal reception may disagree. This could be due to the progressive use of younger generation teenagers using taboo language in a disruptive manner. Therefore stereo typically, due to the younger, less intelligent teens also the same terminology, swearing appears to maintain a more offensive format when used in public and also appears to be informal and or impolite.
As a matter of fact, studies show that swearing may actually increase your strength. Does this mean that when you swear you're going to be the strength of a middle aged body builder? Most definitely not. But if there wasn't already enough reasons that compel you to use taboo language, you now have another. A newspaper article published by the telegraph states that psychologists conducted experiments in which the results prove this theory. The results of the experiments display that the use of using taboo language during exercise improved performance.
To settle the debate once and for-all, psychologists have invested their time into studying whether or not the use of taboo language really is a sign of stunted intelligence. Through these studies they have discovered that swearing actually appears to be a feature of language that an articulate individual can use to use within their speech to ensure maximum effectiveness. Their studies also disprove the ideology that those who swear have a lack of general vocabulary or low intelligence. But does this prove that everyone who swears is highly intelligent? Not at all. But at least now you can be at ease with whatever language you use, without the dreading notion of being less intelligent.
Personally, my stance on the topic of taboo language is neutral. Having grown up in an average house hold, on an average street where taboo language is a natural part of adolescent speech, I do not view the language as unpleasing or rude. However, I do agree that in some scenarios taboo language can appear to be offensive or threatening. Although, my views may be bias towards the use of taboo language due to my personal excessive use of taboo language when surrounded by my friends. But as a whole, I am not supporting the use, nor against the idea that the language is informal and should only be used only in specific contexts.

Welcome
Welcome! My blog page is going to be a response to topical issues involving the English language. The current topical debate under discussion and research is the use Americanisms within the British English language.Alongside this, I have been researching other "loan" words, words that originate from other cultures/ languages but we use them in modern English.
